emily allan

emily is an emerging designer, maker, and educator working out of Toronto and Montréal. She graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University’s (TMU) School of Interior Design in 2020 with specialization in Design Fabrication.

emily’s work is informed by a curiosity for the 3D world and a captivation for its hows and whys. She is interested in the crossover of DIY and circular practices within contemporary art making, digital fabrication, and installation.

Currently emily works part-time as a remote creative technologist for TMU’s Design Fabrication Zone where she is responsable for marketing, fabrication coordination, and educational programming for students and the public.

Outside of her personal practice, emily supports artists in her community through art direction, set design, and production services.

Her proudest achievement to date has been co-founding Studio Rat in 2018 with her collaborator and long-time friend Dominique Di Libero. Studio Rat is a site for independent and collaborative investigations on plastics, inflatables, and community building (three things that are more closely connected than you might imagine).
